Developing an ICT strategy
Developing an ICT strategy
Do you need to create a new ICT strategy, or to refresh your current strategy? This one-day practical event is designed to help those who want to maximise the benefits from their ICT budgets and capital investments. The foundations are recent Socitm Insight reports on building an ICT strategy and ICT governance. There is a strong emphasis on creating the right governance framework in order to ensure the full implementation of the strategy, and we use the new Socitm technology and information architectures.
Course Content
- Scope and context of ICT strategy
- Governance for strategy development and ongoing ICT services
- Socitm Insight’s Planning for ICT framework
- The necessary skills, communications and organisational issues
- The alignment of ICT strategy and other planning processes including information strategy
- Best practice and potential pitfalls
Delegates will gain :
- A thorough understanding of mutual dependencies between strategy and governance
- A grounding in the principles of strategy development derived from both the latest research from Socitm Insight and delegate’s own real examples of “work-in-progress”
- Advice regarding their own strategy project from both the facilitators and their peers.

Where there is a sizeable cohort of delegates, Malcolm will be assisted by Mark Wheatley who has commissioned and presented several Socitm strategy related courses in recent years. Mark has extensive local authority ICT management experience.
Much of the course material has been developed by Chris Head, Principal Associate with Socitm Insight and author of its guides in this area..
